WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

  • Robust, coarse, perennial tussock grass to 1.2m high. 
  • Attractive red-anther flowers, spring-summer.

WHERE IT GROWS & WHY:

  • Predominantly east of the Hume Highway. 
  • Generally upland areas of low fertility acid soils.

MANAGEMENT/SIGNIFICANCE:

  • Catchment and slope protection and shelter. 
  • Valuable summer grazing.
