WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

  • A shrub growing to a height of 2-4 metres depending on climate.  
  • The bipinnate foliage is soft and greyish-green. 
  • Golden yellow flowers are carried in globular heads with 20-30 blooms in each head. The heads may be in axillary or terminal clusters. 
  • Flowering occurs in spring when blooms are both conspicuous and profuse. 
  • The attractive foliage complements the flowers.  

WHERE IT GROWS & WHY:

  • Frost resistant and once established the species has low water requirements.
    Found on the western slopes of NSW from near Dubbo to the West Wyalong area.

MANAGEMENT/SIGNIFICANCE

  • Has a natural weeping habit, that seems to always be wider than it is tall.
  • Growing well in full sun and coping well with dry conditions, this is a tough and hardy plant for native gardens and broader landscaping uses alike.
  • Great plant for attracting bees, birds and butterflies and can also act as a habitat plant.
